• “The Dirty Beggars own the stage… ” – The List

The Dirty Beggars are an outfit from Central Scotland, with the music of the Appalachians running in their blood. Five boys born in the wrong country, their brand of down and dirty bluegrass has been electrifying crowds all over the UK. Comprising of guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and double bass, The Dirty Beggars are one-of-a-kind in the UK, blasting out the tunes made popular in the 21st Century by the bluegrass revival following the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack album, and the unique styles pioneered by Old Crow Medicine Show, Gillian Welch and the Dave Rawlings Machine, as well as their own growing repertoire of their own compositions and songs.

  • “…a thrilling introduction to a hugely talented band.”

In the past year, The Dirty Beggars have gone from strength to strength, having landed two high profile slots at Celtic Connections, which have in turn landed them a series of four dates in London and support slots for well known acts including Orange Unsigned winner Tommy Reilly, The Staves, Three Blind Wolves, and the successful honky-tonk outfit The Wilders. They took the Edinburgh Fringe Festival by storm in 2010, played at the Underbelly in 2011, and undertook a successful tour of the US which landed them coverage from MTV. The band have just released their debut album, Bite the Bullet which features 10 original tracks, and has received airplay on BBC Scotland.”
